We are seeking MSc and PhD students eager to explore the integration of generative AI and foundation models within UX design and research. This role involves utilizing these advanced tools across the design thinking process, from ideation to evaluation, and contributing to research that impacts the future of interaction design.
Candidates should have a background in machine learning, particularly in generative AI and foundation models, along with experience or interest in UX design and user research techniques. Key responsibilities include investigating the use of generative AI for rapid UI prototyping, designing and evaluating user interfaces for AI-driven systems, and developing AI-enhanced usability assessments. Strong proficiency in Python, excellent problem-solving skills, and robust communication abilities are essential. Part-time and full-time undergraduate research assistantships are available term-by-term. Interested students should contact Dr. Umair Rehman at urehman6@uwo.ca for current openings. BSc CS students at UWO can undertake a CS4490 thesis project to earn course credit while working on ongoing research projects at HCCG.
